Our trauma therapists use the research-based trauma therapy of EMDR to help those with PTSD and trauma including interpersonal violence, sexual assault, childhood trauma, and complex trauma. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an evidence-based method that is proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including anxiety, depression, and panic disorders. The EMDR International Association describes EMDR therapy as an approach that changes the emotions, thoughts, or behaviors from a distressing issue, allowing the brain to resume its natural healing process. EMDR therapy is designed to resolve unprocessed traumatic memories in the brain.
Don’t see what you are looking for? No problem! We work with a network of amazing therapists and would be happy to connect you with someone who would fit your needs.
EMDR is the most effective treatment for trauma. Your EMDR therapist will use a combination of exercises to redirect your eye movement while you talk about your traumatic memories. When you combine this new eye movement with other techniques, you change how the two halves of your brain work together. Trauma causes the signals between the different parts of your brain as well as your brain and body to stop working properly. EMDR trauma therapy helps rebalance these connections. As a result, your brain can deal with traumatic memories in a healthier and less stressful way.
We want to take care of you and make this process as simple as possible. We understand that because your experiences are unique, your therapist should be suited to your personalized needs. Once you complete your free 15 minute consultation, you’ll be matched with a therapist who best fits your goals, personality, and needs.
